Assignment #2 – Be The Expert: Indigenous Philosophies and Learning Recognizes the Role of Indigenous Knowledge
This was an assignment for a Theoretical Frameworks of Education course focusing on Indigenous Philosophies and Recognize the Role of Indigenous Knowledge. This assignment helped me position my own thinking and incorporate the role of Indigenous Knowledge at the forefront of my own teaching practice. Focusing on this viewpoint is crucial as a future educator because it will allow for me to have a more holistic and welcoming teaching practice.
Educational Influences Timeline
The making of this timeline was a significant moment of reflection for me because it encouraged me to think about moments, influences, and experiences that have led me to where I am today in my life. Looking back at my own educational influences I was able to look at where some of my biggest supports came from and my own positionality within the education space. This is significant to my teaching and learning because my family and influences have shaped my view on the kind of educator that I would like to be and I want to strive to create a positive, kind, and welcoming education space for students. Having to reflect on my own experiences is really valuable to me as a future teacher because I think that it allows you to frame what is most important to you, why you want to be a teacher, and the kind of teacher that you want to be.
