Medical Laboratory Clerk, Island Health (Royal Jubilee Hospital)
September 2023-January 2024
First point of contact for patients receiving lab work at the hospital.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing clerical duties including making appointments, computer entry, telephoning, faxing, invoicing
- Maintaining records, standing orders, and cleaning logs
- Answering questions and concerns about the lab work
- Prioritizing most important lab work by test and patient circumstance
- Managing the waitlist of patients and calling them through to have lab work done
- Ordering lab work, inputting information into the computer, verifying patient information and inputting lab tests according to current policies and procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answering phone calls regarding patient’s needs and assisting food service staff

- Receives incoming calls, identifies the nature of the call, acts accordingly by either solving the issue or forwarding the call to the correct department
